Weihrauch HW45 Silver Star Beeman P11 |
|
Beeman imports the HW45 Silver Star as the P11. I was looking for a .22 caliber HW45. I am not a fan of the grip on on P11. Mostly because it is too short for my hands but also because of its color. I was hoping to replace it with standard 1911 grips but unfortunately the P11 uses a unique grip. Since this came from Air Guns of Arizona it came with a personal inspection sheet and a nice chrony printout. To cock the mainspring you pull the hammer down which isn't a hammer, it's just a catch which releases the top half of receiver, then pull the receiver apart to cock. The rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation and the fiber optics are a nice touch. The fiber optics are just pieces of plastic that catch the light around their circumference and channel it to the ends. The bright coloration helps as well. It takes quite a bit of practice to handle the recoil correctly. Recoil is a large issue with springers as the muzzle is moving before the pellet leaves the barrel. Here are the pages from the Weihrauch catalog. images/airguns/P11/Weihrauch_Sport_Katalog_20071015/02_20071015.pdf images/airguns/P11/Weihrauch_Sport_Katalog_20071015/04_20071015.pdf There are some really good websites out there that go into depth on the HW45. For example the barrel is replaceable with 2 screws. Replacement parts are available as well.
