In the world of RC cars, there are upgrade options from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and third party vendors known as "Hopups". While these are not strictly necessary they can increase the performance, durability, and convenience of the model. Your probably wondering what you can hopup? The answer is just about everything. We have covered the most important ones on the previous page, namely the ESC and ball bearings. So lets look at what else is available for the Tamiya TL01. Tamiya Hopups: A list of Houps that will work with the TL01 is included on the instructions that come with the kit. However, this is not a complete list. Differentials: There are at least two different Tamiya Differentials that will work with the TL01.
Universal Constant Velocity Joints: Instead of the dog-bones that come with the standard chassis, you can purchase stainless steel universal CV joints. Carbon Fiber Drive Shaft: The drive shaft that comes with the kit is made of steel and is very heavy. This carbon fiber drive shaft is extremely lightweight.
Speed Tuned Gear Set: Not sure what these are made of, but they appear to be nylon.
Carbon Fiber Shaft Set: These replace the original steel shafts and are hollow. Lightweight Chassis: Not sure what this is made of, but it is gray and noticeably thinner and lighter than the stock black plastic frame.
Turnbuckle Set: These allow you to adjust toe on the front wheels.
5 Degree Toe Block: This provides 5 degrees of Toe for the rear wheels. Anti-sway Bar: This can be applied to front and back but interferes with the lightweight chassis end pieces (although I made mine work).
Adjustable Upper Arm Set: This allows you to adjust camber on all four wheels.
Not a hopup, but Spare Stock Parts: These can be purchased separately:
Long Arm Suspension Set: Although not verified, this supposedly does not increase the width.
Stainless Steel Shaft Set: Replaces the shoulder screws used to hold the suspension arms on the chassis.
Third Party: Aluminum or Delrin Front Arms: Aluminum or Delrin C Blocks: Aluminum or Delrin Rear Arms: Aluminum or Delrin Drive Shaft: Titanium Screws: Ball Bearings For C Blocks:
