In these pages you will find listed the troubles I have
had to date. After 10 months of ownership and approximately 11,000 miles I
have only 5 minor and 1 major problems.
First the minor problems. These include gear shift
rattle, grease streaks on windows, Bose Auto-Pilot distortion, gas cap cover
release sticking, and paint flaking on splash guard.
The gear shift rattle has been there since I completed
the manufacturers suggested break-in. The rattle is only audible at high
rpms hence why I didn't hear them before break-in was completed. Nissan
is aware of this rattle and does not think it is an issue so no fixes are
planned. Nissans excuse is fixing the rattle would negate driver
feedback.
The grease streaks on the windows didn't start for a
few months. Nissan has a TSB on this issue and kits can be ordered by
the dealer to resolve it. However, many people have had window problems
after the TSB has been applied. Thoughts are incompetent dealership
service, not the kit itself. At any rate, I'll keep a micro-fiber cloth
handy.
The Bose Audio-Pilot problem can also be fixed by a
Nissan TSB. I don't know if my problem is exactly as described in the
TSB but my primary issue is you can't turn the bloody thing off. A cheap
fix rumored is the disconnection of the in-cab microphone and installation of
a 1K ohm resistor. I may try this fix.
The gas cap cover has stuck since day one. Not a
big deal, I just haven't taken the time to fix it. Others report their
dealers ordered new mechanisms to fix the problem. I believe some
vaseline will do the trick for mine.
The paint on one of my splash guards is flaking
off. No big deal, but its not due to a paint chip. Somehow that
corner of one splash guard is seeing some stress that the others don't or it
is a manufacturing/install problem.
The worst problem is what I call a major problem and is
the most troublesome and difficult of all. This is the abnormal tire wear
phenomenon that results in a feathering pattern on the inside tread blocks only
and the pattern is circumferential around the tire. Nissan had a TSB for
this but it does not work. Nissan is working on another fix, we are to
expect relief by this summer. |
