The front suspension of the Z is what Nissan calls Aluminum Multi-Link.  The top of the spindle is connected to the chassis via an aluminum wish-bone.  The bottom of the spindle is connected to the chassis through two independent links - not a one-piece wishbone.

All joints except for one appear to be steel joints, most with rubber dust covers.  The ball joint for the bottom rear link to the chassis is rubber mounted.  This joint is not metal to metal with a dust cover.  This is the likely candidate for the feathering problem.
