ORDERING TIPS

Well I had quite an ordeal ordering my 06 Murano.  It really shouldn't be that hard but it was.  Here are some tips if you plan on ordering any vehicle from any Nissan dealer:

1. Submit order and ensure Order Number is assigned. You can obtain the build month from that printout.  The build will take 1-2 months depending on where in the order cycle the order was submitted.

2. Then have your salesperson check NNA NET after the end of the build month. Ensure the VIN number is assigned and the status changes to SIT. It takes approximately 1 month for the boat shipment if the vehicle is built in Japan (you can tell this from the VIN - JN is Japan built).

3. Then check the dealer inventory on the http://www.nissanusa.com website for your VIN to show up in your dealers inventory. When that VIN shows up, the vehicle is released from the Vehicle Processing Center (VPC). At this point the vehicle will arrive at your dealer in 1 to 2 weeks.

Total time 3-4 months.

Notes:

1. If the order number is not known then the order is not valid. There are certain milestones in the month where the dealer can affect the order. If the dealer has a vehicle ordered then it can change that order to what the customer wants specifically on that vehicle. If the order request is out of cycle with the change deadline IE order requested the day after the change deadline, then the dealer has to submit a new order. The deadline for the new order and scheduling cycle is [unknown].

2. When the vehicle is built it could be picked as a quality lot sample. That is why some new vehicles come with about 50miles on the odometer and may taker a little longer than others. Once the vehicle is built and quality inspected/tested then it is moved onboard a carrier vessel. The carrier vessel then steams to the port near the VPC.

3. At the VPC port, the vehicles are offloaded from the carrier vessel into the VPC lot. At this point the vehicles are: A) Deprocessed from the carrier vessel. B) Inprocessed for administrative purposes and applicable accessories are added like manuals, floor mats, NAVI DVD, etc. C) The vehicles are processed for dealer delivery including assigning VIN to dealer inventory on the nissanusa website, a messaging is sent to the dealer, and preparations for transit to the dealer via train and/or car carrier are made).
